Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. At the age of five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended Dragon School. At the age of six years old, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and, for a period of years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre academy where she was taught singing, dancing and acting. By the time she reached the age of 10, she had appeared and acted as the lead in a variety of Stagecoach productions and school productions. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by her Oxford theatre teacher who introduced casting representatives to Emma. After eight auditions consistently director David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected to play the three main characters: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance in a cinema was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). It was the top-grossing film of 2001and broke records in terms of opening day sales as well as opening-weekend runs. The performances of the film and of its young stars were highly praised by critics. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper widely published, described Emma's performance as "admirable." Then, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Film. Film. Emma acquired two Critics Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her performance in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
