Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), an RN and
Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture mover. She is
English-, Welsh-, Irishand Scottish. Rachel started acting at the age of
thirteen. Already, she was performing in Shakespearean plays in summer theater
camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
After her role in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) in which she
was a lead in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that follows the
trials and triumphs of a Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she was awarded
the Gemini award. The role of Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004) immediately
was a hit on the list of Hollywood's most sought-after young actresses. After
that, she landed her own starring role alongside Ryan Gosling in the adaptation
of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) which was a surprising
box office success and became the predominant romantic drama of a new
generation of moviegoers. McAdams and Gosling were in love during filming and
continued to be together until the middle of 2007. McAdams and Gosling were in
a relationship and began to meet. McAdams appeared in The Lucky Ones (2007) and
State of Play (2008), respectively. McAdams also appeared in the film The Time
Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's worldwide hit
Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the shrewd producer for Morning Glory
(2010). She also was the fiancee with a materialistic character Owen Wilson in
Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams returned to romantic drama in
The Vow (2012), in which she was a co-star with Channing Tatum. McAdams is a
part of Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) alongside Ben Affleck and Noomi
Rapacace in Brian De Palma’s thriller Passion (2012).
